Midi Square Hoops: 1.5" squared hoop earrings, handcrafted from lightweight Italian acetate with engraved barrel backings. Earring posts are made from hypoallergenic stainless steel, sterling silver, or solid gold.

JJ Matchett started MACHETE in 2015 with four original earring designs and a belief that everyday accessories, if made with care and intention, could become heirloom-quality keepsakes. With a background in vintage buying, she knew that thoughtful design and craftsmanship resulted in products that looked good, felt good, and would last a lifetime. 

A journey towards sustainability is at the heart of every material choice and manufacturing decision they make. MACHETE are committed to transitioning fully to high-quality acetates that are bio or plant-based, derived from biodegradable, renewable resources like wood pulp or cotton linters. They are actively exploring eco-friendly dyes, including organic pigments and solvent or dispersed dyes, to ensure their coloring processes are sustainable and safe.

MACHETE is dedicated to using recycled brass and ethically sourced silver and gold for all of their metals. MACHETE accessories use eco-friendly EVA zip bags, replacing all one-use plastics.
