Making a Hannah Top (Intermediate I) - July 25th & 26th, 2026
This is a two-day intensive sewing course that guides the students through the process of making a Hannah Top, and amazingly versatile shirt designed by Kat Williford of Pamut, an ethical and sustainable clothing brand in Raleigh, NC. The class meets on July 25th and 26th from 10:00am -1:00 pm in our sewing area at Community with a maximum class size of 6 students.
The sewing pattern is included in the price of the course.Intermediate sewing skills are required for this course. Students need to have an understanding of their machine and its settings, and basic clothing construction and finishing techniques. If you have never used a sewing machine or made a garment before, please take our beginners courses before signing up for this class.
The Hanna Top is a favorite versatile piece. Cut in a boxy and modern fit, this top is oversized and relaxed. The Hanna’s best feature is its reversibility. Wear it with either the V or the scoop in front. Side slits give this top a feeling of ease and accentuate the relaxed drape. The sleeves are cut from a wide band to add subtle structure.
What you’ll learn:
· How to read and use a multi-size pattern
· Beautiful seam finished that do not require a serger.
· Bias binding
· Multiple techniques that are used over and over again in garment construction.
Level: Intermediate I. This is an excellent top for learning new techniques.
Supplies other than the sewing pattern are not included. **You are responsible for bringing your own sewing machine and supplies.** You will receive a supply list from the instructor at least five days before the course begins.
Meet the instructor: Emily Greenea lifelong sewist with an MFA in set and costume design for theatre. She has worked on Broadway productions and was a freelance set and costume designer in the Bay Area before spending five years at Laika Studios in Portland, Oregon. She is passionate about garment, and costume construction, thrifted re design, and natural dyeing, especially working with indigo.
This is a two-day course - Saturday, July 25th and Sunday, July 26th from 10:00am-1:00am.
