Intro to Lingerie Sewing - Beginners III: February 22-March 1, 2026

This is a 2-week machine sewing course that will be held in our sewing area at Community on Sunday afternoons with a maximum class size of 6 students. Price includes sewing pattern, but not the material kit. 

In this two-session class, you’ll learn the fundamentals of sewing comfortable, well-fitting underwear while making three pairs of panties just for you (or someone you love). Choose between the Celeste Bikini Cut or Claudia Hipster pattern from Ohhh Lulu Lingerie. We’ll cover fit, elastic application, stretch fabrics, and finishing techniques—perfect for beginners curious about lingerie sewing or confident sewists looking to expand their skills. Basic sewing skills are required for this course. Students need to have an understanding of their machine and its settings, and basic clothing construction and finishing techniques. If you have never used a sewing machine or made a garment before, please take our Beginners Sewing and/or Beginners II courses before signing up for this class.

Supplies other than the sewing pattern are not included in the price of the course. **You are responsible for bringing your own sewing machine and supplies.** You will receive a supply list from the instructor at least five days before the course begins. Your sewing machine needs to have the following functions: Straight stitch and zig zag stitch, ability to adjust stitch length and width, and thread tension.

Meet the instructor: Rachel Putman

Inspired by Betty and Veronica and fueled by a lifelong love of making, Rachel has been an advocate for slow fashion since she was a teen. Her passion grew into teaching—sharing her skills with friends and family, fellow sewists online, and now the local community. Rachel has been a pattern tester, fit model, and content creator for many independent designers. She’s excited to spark creativity and confidence in new and experienced sewists while building connections with Athens’ creative community.

For cancellations, you will receive a 75% refund until seven days before the beginning of the course. Cancellation seven days or less before the course results in a refund of 25% of the cost.  No refunds will be issued on the day the course begins or after the course has begun.
