Bring Your Own Project Course: February 11 - March 4, 2026
This in-person machine sewing course is designed for sewers who wish to work on their own projects in a supportive and collaborative environment. Whether you're a beginner tackling one of your first garments or an experienced sewist working on a pattern, our open sewing session provides the space and guidance you need to bring your ideas to life. Bring your fabric, machines, and a sewing project you are working on, and receive personalized instruction, tips, and troubleshooting assistance. Our instructor will be available to offer advice to help you achieve your sewing goals.
This class is not designed for someone who has never used a sewing machine. Please sign up for our Beginners Sewing Course first.
You need to bring your own sewing machine, tools, and supplies. Knowledge of how to use your sewing machine are required.
The instructor, Nissa McKinney, began her sewing journey more than ten years ago at a beginner’s class at Community. That class gave her the foundation she needed to start sewing more advanced projects. Today, a large percentage of her wardrobe is handmade - from jeans and t-shirts to coats and dresses. Sewing has become her superpower! When not sewing, she works as a writer for a kids' science journal, provides shuttle service for her two kids, and squeezes in a dance class or two at Dancefx.
The Bring Your Own Project Course meets at COMMUNITY on the following dates:
Wednesday, February 11th, 6:15-8:15pm
Wednesday, February 18th, 6:15-8:15pm
Wednesday, February 25th, 6:15-8:15pm
Wednesday, March 4th, 6:15-8:15pm
with a maximum size of six participants.

For cancellations, you will receive a 75% refund until seven days before the beginning of the course. Cancellation seven days or less before the course results in a refund of 25% of the cost of the course. No refunds will be issued on the day the course begins or after the course has begun.
