Chamber Of Commerce
This past year the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce announced Mask on Athens, an art competition benefitting the new Athens Creative Directory. Members of the Athens community voted and UGA student Angelica Millen won the mask design contest! The design was digitally printed on cotton fabric, and a limited edition of masks were then sewn at Community.
Proceeds will benefit the launch of the Athens Creatives Directory, a joint collaborative effort of ACC Economic Development and Envision Athens’ CREATE Athens work group. When asked about the impact of this initiative, Envision Athens’ Project Manager Erin Barger shared: “The Athens Creative Registry is an economic development mechanism for both the Athens creative economy collectively, and the individual artists who make Athens the brilliant creative community that it is.”
Our fabric face masks are following CDC guidelines for protective masks that help prevent spread of the corona virus. We use two layers of woven cotton fabric. Filters and/or protective material can be inserted in the pocket between the two layers to provide additional protection.
