February: Cafe Campesino’s Colombia
Every month Community hand picks a new coffee from a Georgia based coffee roaster. Our “Georgia Coffee of the Month” features 12 ounces of your choice of either whole bean or ground, freshly roasted coffee.
This month we are excited to feature the “Colombia Medium Roast” blend from Cafe Campesino in Americus, Georgia!
Cafe Campesino was founded in 1998, becoming Georgia’s first and only 100% fair trade, organic coffee company. In 2017, Cafe Campesino became a Certified B Corporation, solidifying their commitment to being a force for positive social and environmental change.
From Cafe Campesino, “Tucked in the heart of the Cordillera Central mountains of Cauca, Colombia, the Nasa people who make up the farmer co-op of Fondo Paez, produce some of the world's best coffee. We roast this coffee so that it has a medium body and it maintains its medium-to-high acidity and fruity flavor. Founded in 1992, the Nasa are the largest indigenous group in Colombia, and the group has the primary goal of recuperating traditional agricultural knowledge and indigenous culture, which had been buried by centuries of conflict and oppression. Today with 370 members, Fondo Paez stands in solidarity with Colombia's small farmers (campesinos), and we stand in support of Fondo Paez. We hope you will support them, as well.”
